300+ High DA PA Free Directory Submission Sites List 2026

Directory submission sites are websites that list businesses or websites by category or location. You add your business name, website, address, phone and a short description, and the directory shows it to people who search there. In 2026 directory submission still works, but only when you pick relevant, trusted directories (Google Business Profile, Yelp, industry and country directories) instead of hundreds of random ones. Below is a list of 319 real, active directories sorted into clear groups, plus a simple process to submit the right way.

Most directory lists online are one long table of random domains with DA numbers that are old or made up. Many of those sites are dead, full of spam or never approve listings. This guide is built differently. Every site here is a real, well known platform. Each one has a type and a “best for” note. And the list is split by country, industry and business type so you can find your best 20 to 50 sites fast.

What Is Directory Submission?

Directory submission is the process of adding your website or business to an online directory. A directory is like a digital phone book. It groups businesses by category (for example, plumbers or software companies) and often by location (for example, Toronto or Lahore).

When you submit, you usually provide:

  • Business name
  • Website URL
  • Address and phone number (for local businesses)
  • Category
  • Short and long description
  • Logo, photos, opening hours and social links

After an editor or an automated check approves it, your listing goes live. It can send visitors, help people trust you, and give search engines another source that confirms your business details.

Types of directories

  • Local business directories and citation sites: Google Business Profile, Yelp, Yellow Pages, Yell, Justdial. Best for local SEO.
  • Country directories: Directories that focus on one country, such as True Local in Australia or Canada411 in Canada.
  • Industry or niche directories: Avvo for lawyers, Healthgrades for doctors, Houzz for home design, Clutch for agencies.
  • B2B and supplier directories: Thomasnet, Kompass, Alibaba, IndiaMART, TradeKey. Buyers use them to find suppliers.
  • Software and startup directories: G2, Capterra, Product Hunt, BetaList. Buyers and early users compare tools here.
  • Review platforms: Trustpilot, Sitejabber, Feefo. They give you a profile page and social proof.
  • General web directories: Edited directories like Best of the Web and Curlie that list websites by topic.
  • Blog directories: Feedspot, Blogarama and BlogAdda, which list blogs by niche.

Directory submission vs citation building

These terms overlap. A citation is any mention of your business name, address and phone number (NAP) online. Local directories are the main source of citations. Directory submission is the wider act of listing your site in any directory, local or not. For a local business, directory submission is mostly citation building. For a SaaS or B2B company, it is more about visibility, reviews and buyer research.

Does Directory Submission Still Work in 2026? An Honest View

Yes, but not the way it worked in 2008. Back then, people submitted to hundreds of web directories just to get links. Google’s updates since then (Penguin and the link spam updates) made most of those links worthless or even risky. Here is the honest picture for 2026.

What still works

  • Relevance over volume. Ten listings on directories your buyers actually use beat 300 listings on random sites.
  • Local citations. Consistent NAP on trusted directories helps Google trust your business details. This supports Map Pack visibility.
  • Entity and brand signals. Search engines and AI assistants build a picture of your business (an “entity”) from many sources. Profiles on Crunchbase, LinkedIn, G2, Clutch and your country directories help confirm who you are, what you do and where you are.
  • AI search visibility. Tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews often cite review and directory pages (G2, Clutch, Yelp, Tripadvisor) when they recommend businesses. Being listed there gives you a chance to be mentioned. Learn how this differs from classic rankings in our GEO vs SEO vs AEO guide.
  • Referral traffic and leads. Sites like Clutch, Houzz, Avvo, Justdial and Capterra send real buyers.

What no longer works

  • Mass submission to hundreds of low quality “SEO directories” that accept anything.
  • Buying packages of “500 directory backlinks”.
  • Using exact match keyword anchors like “best cheap plumber Dallas” as your business name.
  • Expecting directory links alone to rank your site.

Dofollow vs nofollow: does it matter?

Most big directories (Yelp, Google, Facebook, G2, Trustpilot) use nofollow, ugc or sponsored links. That is fine. Google treats these as hints, and the main value of these listings is trust, citations, referral traffic and brand mentions, not raw link equity. Do not skip a highly relevant directory just because the link is nofollow. And be careful with any directory that sells guaranteed dofollow links. Paid links that pass PageRank go against Google’s spam policies.

Does directory submission improve Domain Authority?

A few strong, relevant links can help a new site build its link profile, which can lift third party scores like Moz DA or Ahrefs DR a little. But DA and DR are not Google metrics. Do not chase them. Chase listings that real customers see.

Directory Submission Sites List 2026 (319 Sites by Category)

The list below is grouped so you can jump to what fits your business. Each table shows the site name, the website, what type of platform it is and who it is best for.

About DA and DR: We do not show Domain Authority (DA) or Domain Rating (DR) numbers here. These scores change every month, and many lists online copy old or fake numbers. Before you submit, check the live score yourself with the free Moz Link Explorer or Ahrefs Website Authority Checker. Use it as one signal, not the main reason to submit.

Note on pricing: Most sites below offer a free basic listing. Many also sell paid upgrades, ads or lead credits. A few (like Super Lawyers, Supply Nation or chamber listings) need selection, certification or membership. Check each site’s current terms before you sign up.

How to Choose the Right Directories (Quality Checklist)

You do not need all of these sites. Most businesses need 20 to 60 good listings. Use this checklist to pick them.

  1. Is it relevant to your business? Industry, country or city match is the most important factor. A Lahore software house gets more from P@SHA, Clutch and GoodFirms than from a US plumber directory.
  2. Do real people use it? Search for your service plus the directory name. If the directory pages show up in Google for your category or city, that is a great sign.
  3. Does it get organic traffic? Check estimated traffic in Ahrefs, Semrush or Similarweb. A directory with no traffic gives you almost nothing.
  4. Is it edited or reviewed? Good directories check listings before approval. Instant approval for anything is a bad sign.
  5. Are the existing listings real businesses? Open a few category pages. If you see real, local companies with full details, good. If you see casino, pills or spun text, leave.
  6. Are its pages indexed? Search site:directorydomain.com in Google. If few pages are indexed, your listing likely will not be either.
  7. Does it let you add rich details? Photos, hours, services, reviews and a description help you stand out and convert.
  8. Check DA or DR last. Use Moz or Ahrefs as a final filter, not the first one.

Which directories to start with, by business type

Business typeStart with these groups
Local service business (plumber, dentist, salon)Core platforms, your country section, home services or health, review platforms
Law firmCore platforms, legal directories, your country section
Restaurant or hotelCore platforms, travel and hospitality, your country section
Software or SaaS companySaaS review directories, startup launch directories, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, AI directories if relevant

How to Spot Spam Directories (Red Flags)

Bad directories can waste your time and, at scale, can add spammy links to your profile. Skip a directory if you see any of these:

  • It promises instant approval or “guaranteed dofollow backlinks”.
  • It asks for a reciprocal link back to it before it lists you.
  • Categories are full of casino, adult, pills, loans or obviously fake businesses.
  • Every page is just a list of links with no real content or details.
  • The site has thousands of categories but almost no Google traffic.
  • Listings use keyword stuffed names like “Best SEO Company Cheap SEO Services”.
  • It is one of many look alike directories on the same template, often run by the same owner.
  • It forces you to pay just to be reviewed, and the paid listing has no traffic or editorial value.
  • It has huge ad blocks, pop ups or malware warnings.
  • Its pages are not indexed in Google (check with a site: search).

If you already have hundreds of spammy directory links from an old campaign, you usually do not need to panic. Google tends to ignore most of them. A disavow file is only worth considering if you have a manual action or a clear pattern of paid, manipulative links.

How to Prepare Your Listing Information Before You Submit

Prepare everything once, in one document. This makes every submission faster and keeps your details the same everywhere. Consistency is what makes citations useful.

FieldWhat to prepareTip
Business nameYour real legal or trading nameNo added keywords or city names unless they are part of your real name
AddressOne exact formatUse the same format everywhere, for example “Suite 4” not “Ste 4” on some sites
PhoneA local numberUse the same number as your Google Business Profile
Website URLThe main or location page URLUse the same version everywhere (https, with or without www)
EmailA domain emailAvoid free emails if possible, some directories reject them
Categories1 primary and 2 to 4 secondaryMatch the directory’s own category names
Short descriptionAbout 150 to 250 charactersSay what you do, for whom, and where

Step by Step Directory Submission Process

  1. Audit what already exists. Search your business name and phone number in Google. Note every listing that already exists and any wrong details (old address, old phone).
  2. Claim and fix the core platforms first. Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Yelp, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  3. Pick your shortlist. Use the checklist above to pick 20 to 60 directories from your country, industry and business type groups.
  4. Check each site. Look at live DA or DR in Moz or Ahrefs, traffic estimates, indexed pages and the quality of other listings.
  5. Create a dedicated email login (for example listings@yourdomain.com) so all verification emails go to one inbox the team can access.
  6. Submit using your prepared info. Copy from your master document. Pick the closest category. Use a unique description where possible.
  7. Verify. Many directories confirm by email, phone call, SMS or postcard. Finish verification quickly, or the listing may never go live.
  8. Add rich details. Photos, services, hours, FAQs and offers. Full profiles rank and convert better.
  9. Pace your submissions. Do 5 to 10 a week. There is no penalty for speed with real directories, but pacing lets you check quality and finish every verification.
  10. Track everything in a spreadsheet (layout below).
  11. Check back after 2 to 6 weeks. Confirm listings are live and indexed. Resubmit or contact support if not.
  12. Ask for reviews on the 2 or 3 platforms that matter most to your buyers.
  13. Update listings whenever your address, phone, hours or services change.

Directory Submission Tracking Spreadsheet

A simple spreadsheet stops you from losing logins, forgetting verifications or leaving old details live. Use these columns in Google Sheets or Excel:

ColumnWhat to record
Directory nameFor example, Yell
Directory URLHomepage or submit page
Category groupCore, country, industry, B2B, SaaS, review and so on
DA / DR (date checked)From Moz or Ahrefs, with the date you checked it
Free or paidFree, free with upgrades, paid, membership
Date submittedThe day you submitted
Login emailWhich email account you used (never store passwords in a shared sheet; use a password manager)
Verification methodEmail, phone, postcard, documents
StatusSubmitted, pending, live, rejected, needs update
Live listing URLThe exact page of your listing
Link typeDofollow, nofollow, ugc, no link
Indexed?Yes or no, checked in Google
NAP correct?Yes or no
Referral visitsFrom GA4, under Traffic acquisition, filtered by source
Leads or callsIf the directory reports them
Next review dateWhen to check it again

To measure results, set up a GA4 exploration that filters sessions by the directory domains as the source. Add UTM tags to your website link where the directory allows it, for example ?utm_source=clutch&utm_medium=directory. This shows which directories send traffic and leads, so you can invest more in those.

The best mix for most businesses: use a listing tool (or do it by hand) for the core local platforms, and submit manually to your niche, B2B, SaaS and country directories. Never buy bulk directory packages.

Common Directory Submission Mistakes to Avoid

  • Chasing volume. 300 random listings are worth less than 30 relevant ones.
  • Inconsistent NAP. Different phone numbers or address formats confuse search engines and customers.
  • Keyword stuffing the business name. This can get your Google Business Profile suspended and looks spammy everywhere.
  • Copy pasting the same description everywhere. Write a few unique versions.
  • Wrong category. Pick the closest real match, not the most popular one.
  • Not finishing verification. Many listings never go live because the email or postcard was ignored.
  • Forgetting old listings. When you move or change numbers, update every listing on your tracking sheet.
  • Ignoring reviews. A listing with zero reviews on Yelp, Trustpilot or Clutch converts poorly. Ask happy customers to review you.
  • Only looking at DA. A DA 90 site in the wrong niche helps less than a DA 30 directory in your exact industry.
  • Paying for useless upgrades. Test the free listing first. Upgrade only where you see real traffic or leads.
  • Using a personal email. When that person leaves, you lose access. Use a shared company inbox.

Directory Submission as Part of Your Off Page SEO

Directories are a foundation, not the whole house. Think of them as the first layer of off page SEO. They confirm that your business is real and help people find you on the platforms they already use. To actually rank for competitive terms, you still need:

  • Useful content on your own site that answers real questions.
  • Links earned from relevant sites through digital PR, guest content, partnerships and resources people want to cite.
  • Natural anchor text. Most of your links should use your brand name or URL, not exact match keywords.
  • Reviews and brand mentions on the sites your buyers trust.

Used this way, directory submission gives you clean citations, a stronger brand entity and a steady trickle of referral traffic, with no risk.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are directory submission sites?

They are websites that list businesses or websites by category or location. You add your business details, and the directory shows your listing to people who search there. Examples include Google Business Profile, Yelp, Yell, Justdial, Clutch and G2.

Are free directory submission sites still worth it in 2026?

Yes, if they are relevant and trusted. Free listings on Google, Bing, Apple Maps, Yelp, your country directories and your industry directories are very much worth it. Free sites that accept anything with no review are not.

Do directory submissions give dofollow backlinks?

Some do, but most major directories use nofollow or ugc links. That is fine. The main value is citations, trust, entity signals and referral traffic. Avoid any directory that sells guaranteed dofollow links.

How many directories should I submit to?

Most businesses need 20 to 60 good listings. Start with the core platforms, then your country and industry directories. Quality and relevance matter far more than the count.

Can directory submission hurt my SEO?

Listing on real, trusted directories will not hurt you. Mass submission to spammy directories or buying bulk packages can create a poor link profile, and in bad cases can contribute to a manual action for unnatural links.

How long does it take for a directory listing to go live?

It ranges from instant to several weeks. Google Business Profile may need a video or postcard check. Edited directories can take a few days to a few weeks. Track each one so you know what is still pending.

How do I check the DA or DR of a directory?

Use the free Moz Link Explorer for Domain Authority or the free Ahrefs Website Authority Checker for Domain Rating. Check traffic too, since a high score with no traffic is a warning sign.

Is directory submission good for local SEO?

Yes. Consistent NAP citations on trusted local directories support your Google Business Profile and help you appear in the local Map Pack. Reviews on these directories also help people choose you.

Final Thoughts

Directory submission is not dead. It just changed. In 2026 the winning approach is simple: claim your core platforms, pick the directories that match your country and industry, prepare consistent details, submit carefully, verify, and track results. Use the 319 sites above as your menu, not your to do list. Pick the 20 to 60 that fit your business, do them well, and spend the rest of your time on content and links that people actually want to share.
